Information Technology at Queen’s is not just about technology. It also embraces information management, services and resources. A metaphor, "one community with many neighbourhoods", represents a simple yet powerful philosophy. At Queen’s, we have a federated approach to IT Governance that blends the enterprise (community) and distributed (neighbourhoods) models. This structure allows us to respect the diversity present in academic pursuit yet capture the efficiencies associated with the enterprise.

Our biggest asset within the IT enterprise at Queen’s is our people. Their diversity of skills is significant and truly impressive. These individuals are being increasingly asked to be the bridge between the business of the institution and information technology to allow for more efficient and effective decision-making and improved provision of services to the community.

The Office of the Chief Information Officer and Associate Vice-Principal for Information Technology Services provides leadership for the continuous development of a secure, flexible and dependable IT environment that is built on a foundation of transparency, collaboration, client focus and respect.

The CIO/AVP is responsible for developing, implementing, and supporting policies, practices, and technology investment strategies in support of the University’s academic and research plans. The Office leads Information Technology Services (ITServices) and oversees the campus IT governance process. The Office reports through the Vice-Principal (Finance and Administration) and the Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic).
