Campus Master Plan: About

The Queen's Campus Master Plan (CMP) project will establish and reinforce a collaborative, integrated process for guiding the continued evolution of our campus.

The master plan will take into consideration many factors:

Academics	Enrolment growth and the resources needed to support academic growth and change (faculty and personnel, space) New pedagogical models, including active learning and the integration of technology in teaching and learning Evolving expectations, including the rise of the 24 hour campus
Enrolment	Number of students; enrolment and program mix; credit and non-credit
Research	Accommodating current and projected scale and scope of activities
Space planning	Uses and configurations of existing spaces Potential new spaces Review of property for potential future acquisition or divestment
Accessibility	Building an inclusive campus community based on the principles of universal design, i.e. accessible spaces that everyone can use and that respect the dignity and independence of persons with disabilities

Functional relationships	Supporting the campus community across multiple locations, including "main" campus, "west" campus (McArthur Hall, Jean Royce Residences, Richardson Stadium, former Prison for Women site), Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts, Innovation Park Aligning movement patterns – pedestrian, bicycle, transit and vehicular circulation – with land use
Infrastructure and sustainability	Smart growth and sustainability issues - energy, water, waste, grounds, heritage buildings Aligning facility renewal with space needs Decreasing environmental impact
Town-gown relationships	Inclusive and on-going dialogue with the city with regard to: Gentrification, property values Economic partnerships Housing for students, faculty and staff Commercial decline/renewal Traffic congestion

Engaging stakeholders:

The project team and consultants will engage with stakeholders in a variety of ways:

through an advisory committee
through community participation fostered through multiple forums for engagement – on-campus, off-campus and virtual forums, such as town halls, workshops, open houses, meetings, polls, blog postings
issue-specific meetings with the City of Kingston and hospital partners
