Partner, Urban Strategies Inc.
Kingston and Queen’s University have been growing together since 1841. Today, more than ever, cities and universities are promoting these close relationships for mutual benefit. Joe Berridge, a partner of Urban Strategies Inc. – the lead consult for Queen's Campus Master Plan project – will draw on his experience in urban design and planning of campuses across Canada, the US, and the UK to suggest ways in which Queen’s and its host community can make the most from their historic relationship.
About Joe Berridge:
Joe Berridge is recognized as one of Canada’s most creative and innovative planners. He has had an integral role in the development of some of the largest and most complex urban regeneration projects in Canada, the U.S., the U.K., and Asia, including regeneration projects in Manchester, Liverpool and St. Louis and advising on the development of World Financial Center in New York and Canary Wharf in London. He has been a master planner for the waterfronts of Toronto, Singapore, Cork, Ireland, London’s East Docklands, San Juan, Puerto Rico and Governors Island in New York City. Joe played an important role in helping form the growth management and transportation plans for the Toronto region. He has prepared campus master plans for the University of Waterloo and Western University and is assisting the University of Manchester with the development of a new research district. He teaches at the University of Toronto and is a regular media commentator and writer on urban issues.
