FAQs for QUFA Bargaining Unit Members

The university and your union, QUFA, are engaged in collective bargaining with mediation scheduled to begin August 11, 2011.

The university is focused on reaching a negotiated agreement with QUFA.

The following questions have been asked by QUFA members about a potential QUFA strike.

    How will the work that CUPE 254 staff perform be handled in the event of a strike?

    Will Queen’s and the Union make an accommodation in respect of a non-picketed location for the drop-off and collection of children attending various camps at Queen’s? I see two main concerns:
    (1) young children may become anxious or unsettled if they have to cross a picket line to get to camp (note also that various camps regularly attend City Park and other locations off campus, so there may be additional crossing of picket lines other than drop-off and pick-up); and
    (2) parents may not be able to collect their children on-time. Will a fee for after-care be charged?
