Join the Discussion About Post Secondary Education’s Future

Message from Alan Harrison, Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic)

Queen’s is participating in consultations with the provincial government on points raised in the province’s recently released discussion paper Strengthening Ontario’s Centres of Creativity, Innovation and Knowledge.

The paper highlights the government’s vision and priorities for post secondary education (PSE), including putting students first; meeting the needs of the creative economy; and focusing on productivity, innovation and sustainability.

I am looking for input on eight discussion questions raised in the paper, aimed at helping re-shape the future of PSE in Ontario. The eight discussion points are listed on the right column of this page.

Four of the eight topics covered by the questions are subjects for discussion at the consultation sessions. These include quality teaching and learning outcomes; experiential learning; technology-enabled learning; and expanded credential options and supplements.

I encourage you to discuss these points with each other and also to send me your comments prior to September 20.
