This acknowledgement is awarded annually to a member of the music faculty who has been nominated by students for their exceptional dedication to the School of Music both inside and outside of the classroom.
Any member of the School of Music faculty is eligible to be nominated for this award. The award recipient will demonstrate some/all of the following desired qualities:
There will be a 2-week nomination period in the Winter Term of each year whereby students can fill out an application form to nominate a member of the School of Music faculty they feel has provided exceptional dedication and commitment towards the success of students, inside and outside of the classroom. All submissions must be completed by the students in full and will be submitted in a sealed envelope provided. All incomplete applications will be disqualified and discarded. (Submission options: Music DSC Inbox in the office, Nominations box situated on the DSC board – will staple an envelope to each application form so that they will be sealed)
A committee of 6-8 students (representatives on the Music Department Student Council of each undergraduate year, along with the Chair, B.A rep, and Con. Ed rep.), concentrating in music from a multitude of years will review the applications and statements. They will come to a consensus as to which faculty member is most deserving of the award based on the submissions. Here are some factors that will be considered in the selection process:
The award will be presented annually at the final School of Music Concert in March, marking the close of another successful year. The recipient will receive a certificate acknowledging them of the award and their name will be engraved upon the plaque for the year.
