Karalyn’s work at the CTL is focused on developing and coordinating programming to support graduate students, teaching assistants, teaching fellows and post-doctoral fellows in their professional development as educators. She currently facilitates the Educational Development Associate (EDA) program, our Professional Development in University Teaching and Learning (PUTL) online module series, and the development of programming we offer throughout the year to support graduate students in their teaching roles. Karalyn also has an interest in supporting educators in areas of active learning, classrooms spaces, lab-based learning and rubric development. She has ongoing research into the use of active learning classrooms at Queen's and is always happy to chat about how to use different classroom spaces.  

Karalyn is happy to support all instructors at Queen’s in:

  • Leveraging the strengths of your teaching assistant team
  • Developing ideas for using the physical space and teaching technology in the active learning classrooms

Research Interests:
Areas of research interest include active learning and the use of active learning spaces, inquiry and peer teaching in laboratory environments, and enhancement of graduate student teaching development through mentorship opportunities.
