Beijing Normal University is once again offering its summer school program in Chinese thought and culture from July 10-25, 2016. Last year cultural studies director James Miller participated in this program as a faculty person, and about six students from Queen’s also participated. The program last year was entirely free of tuition costs and all students received free accommodation and most meals. In addition most students received a scholarship that covered some or all of their international airfare to China.

This year Cultural Studies faculty are not participating directly in the program, but if cultural studies students are interested in going to China, they should consider taking advantage of this opportunity. At the same time, if students wish to earn credits, they should enrol in a directed study with Professor Miller. Provided that students complete all the assignments for the directed study, they can earn up to 3 units towards the Queen’s degree.
