SSHRC Doctoral Awards

Registration Status and the Correct Application Process

1.  Determining Eligibility: Applicants must ensure that they meet the requirements specified in the “Eligibility” and “Value and Duration” sections on the website.

2. Choosing the correct application process: Applicants must determine their current registration status from the table below and submit their application, with attachments, to the appropriate institution.

In fall 2013, you are registered in a degree program at, or on an approved leave of absence from, Queen’s University.

Your home department. (Queen's Cultural Studies Deadline is October 31, 2013) If you plan to register at a different university in 2014-2015, you still submit your application through Queen’s University, not the university you will attend in the fall.

In fall 2013, you are registered in a degree program at a Canadian university without a quota.

SSHRC (Direct applications deadline: November 6, 2013)

In fall 2013, you are registered in a degree program at a foreign university.*

SSHRC (Direct applications deadline: November 6, 2013)

In fall 2013, you are not registered in a degree program at a university, but intend to undertake doctoral studies.

SSHRC (Direct applications deadline: November 6, 2013)

*Students registered concurrently at a Canadian and a foreign university must apply through the Canadian university if it has a quota.

 

SSHRC Canada Graduate Scholarship- Masters (CGSM) Competition

(Queen's Deadline for current students to apply directly to the portal: December 1, 2013)

Application Procedure: To apply for the CGS M scholarships, all applicants must complete and submit an application using the Research Portal. Applicants should consult the instructions when completing their application.

The Research Portal will instruct applicants to select up to five universities where they wish to hold the award. Applicants may select universities on the application where:

  • they are currently enrolled in an eligible program of study and wish to pursue their studies; or
  • they intend to apply for full-time admission to an eligible program of study if not currently enrolled at a university of their choice.
In addition, the Canadian Common CV (CCV) must be completed and linked to the application. Full instructions on the CCV are available to the applicant online.

Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) Competition

(Queen's Cultural Studies Departmental Deadline : January 31, 2014)

All students who want to be considered for a Queen’s University OGS for 2014-15 must complete and submit the 2014-15 SGS OGS online application by January 31, 2014. The website for applicants with all the details and procedures for OGS for 2014-15 is here:
