Q: What's considered an 'Honours Bachelor Degree in Arts'?
A: An honours BA is a 4-year degree, as opposed to a general BA which is 3 years.
A: It is not at all unusual to have transcripts from places with different grading schemes (the UK for instance); nor is it unusual to receive applications from potential graduate students with non-honours degrees. There will be a place on your application to explain both issues. Also, the university that sends your transcript can be asked to send along a marks breakdown, if it isn't already part of the official document. All of these elements are then considered by the people adjudicating the application. If you completed a 3-year degree, you may be required to take some qualifying courses.
A: Cultural Studies requires students possess a B+ for admission into the M.A. program and an A for admission into the Ph.D. program. If you are unsure how your grades will translate, please contact the Program Director (cs.director@queensu.ca).
A: Yes, as long as your MA or PhD plan of study is suitable to Cultural Studies.
