The program will integrate the range of theoretical and practical approaches used in cultural studies and foster scholarship in both historical and contemporary fields of research.
Both the MA and PhD programs require coursework and research. However, these programs also offer students the option of pursuing a project option. Students take two dedicated Cultural Studies core courses along with cross-listed courses from other departments. Supervisors and examining committees are comprised from the list of associated faculty. Graduates of the degree programs will be prepared to continue in academic work or to work as critically engaged citizens in a variety of cultural environments.
The graduate program in Cultural Studies is overseen by a Program Director who is assisted by a Steering Committee composed of faculty members actively teaching and supervising in the program. Students are encouraged to participate in the governance of the program and to express their concerns and ideas through participation in the various committees that make up the administrative structure of the program.
