DEVS Career Day 2013

Ali Ryderis a former DEVS major who graduated in 2008 with a minor in Political Studies.  After graduation, she worked for a number of charities including Amnesty International and UNICEF before taking a position in Peru as a volunteer coordinator for a year.  She completed her Master's of Environmental Studies from York University in 2012, and is currently in the process of becoming a Registered Professional Planner.  Currently, she is the Lead Planning Associate at OrgCode Consulting, Inc., a small-sized consulting firm specializing in developing homelessness programs and housing services.



Jonathan Kong (Arts ’11 DEVS/POL Medial), a ‘Castle Kid’ who spent his first year at Herstmonceux Castle in England and one term in his third year as part of the Fudan Global Development Studies semester abroad program is now working at the University’s Office of Advancement. During his final year as a Queen’s student, Jonathan was Chair of “China’s Future Path” Symposium attended by His Excellency Zhang Junsai, the Ambassador of China to Canada. Having worked closely with the senior University leadership, Jonathan was named to the Principal’s Delegation to China in February 2012. On this visit, he served as the Delegation and Personal Aide to the Principal, Vice-Principal (Research) and Vice-Provost (International). Since then, Jonathan has been conducting research for the Vice-Principal (Advancement) on the University’s international initiatives. Last November, Jonathan returned to China as a Queen’s representative for the Department of Foreign Affaires and International Trade’s Education Mission to Chongqing and Chengdu (the mid-western region of China).
