The Disraeli Project

2011 is shaping up to be a busy year at the Disraeli Project!

With Benjamin Disraeli Letters IX: 1865-1867 now at the University of Toronto Press, work has begun on  Volume X (1868), arguably the most important volume in our series to date, as it will cover Disraeli's first ministry. Volume IX is scheduled for publication in 2012.

The year began with the Disraeli Project as the subject of an article by Alec Ross in Kingston Life magazine (January/February 2011):26.

On 9 February, Director Michel Pharand spoke to the Probus Club of Kingston about the history and importance of the Disraeli Project and the intricate research involved in annotating Disraeli's correspondence.

In March, the Disraeli Project will participate in Doors Open Queen's, part of the Queen's Campus Community Appeal campaign, a campus-wide initiative to encourage faculty and staff to financially support Queen's.

On 29 May, for the second year in a row, the Disraeli Project will participate in Queen's MiniU. Our two sessions, entitled "Adventures in Dizzyland: Editing the Letters of Benjamin Disraeli," will provide alumni with a rare opportunity to learn about the Project and participate in the editorial process.

In September, Michel Pharand will speak about the Disraeli Project at the annual conference of the British Association of Victorian Studies, which will be held this year at the University of Birmingham in England.

Other Disraeli Project news: Robert O'Kell recently published a glowing review of Volume VIII in Victorian Studies in which he refers to the Disraeli Project as "setting the editorial standard to which all such projects should aspire." Read it here
