Affordable theatre workshops, structured around the Ontario Elementary Curriculum and led by The Barefoot Players themselves, are available for groups such as classes and summer camps.

Workshops make a wonderful addition to performances of The Barefoot Players' touring production.

Available Workshops

Drama Games

Suitable for all students
Length: 45 Minutes

Students will participate in a variety of drama games facilitated for them by the Barefoot Players. These drama games develop skills such as movement, creativity, teamwork, and communication... not to mention they are a lot of fun! Games will be tailored to the ages and interests of the students and will expand on the themes presented in Play On.

Music and Dance

Suitable for students in junior kindergarten to grade 5
Length: 45 Minutes

Students will have the opportunity to explore music and dance with the Barefoot Players. Like any good performer, we will start with a physical and vocal warm-up. Students will then learn one of the songs from Play On!. Students are invited to bring any instruments or noisemakers to add to the ensemble. In addition, the Barefoot Players will teach the students a short combination of dance moves that can accompany their newly created musical piece.

Playing with Puppets

Suitable for students grades 3 to 6
Length: 45 Minutes

Puppets are essential to the Barefoot Players performances. Students will learn how to animate objects and even have the chance to create their very own paper bag puppets! Students will learn puppeteering techniques through a series of voice and movement games. Included in the workshop price are all the materials necessary for each student to create a puppet, which they can take home with them or use to further explore puppeteering in the classroom.

Speaking Shakespeare

Suitable for students in grades 5 to 8
Length: 45 Minutes

This workshop introduces students to speaking Shakespearean text using the play Twelfth Night. Using a combination of drama games, vocal exercises, and textual analysis students will have the opportunity to work closely with the Barefoot Players and discover that Shakespeare can be fun!
