Faculty and Academic Assistants Positions
JOB DESCRIPTION - ACADEMIC ASSISTANT - DRAM342
The Department of Drama wishes to hire an academic assistant to work with Prof. Tim Fort in DRAM342 (Elements of Design Practice), a course to be taught during the winter term of 2014. Applications will be received until December 16, 2014 to the Drama Dept.
QUALIFICATIONS: The candidate must have an established background as both a professional scenic and costume designer and be presently working in both of these fields in the local area where the students can readily observe the candidate’s ongoing work. The candidate should also have experience as a teacher – with a graduate degree at the masters level or higher.
WORK SPECIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will be responsible for sharing teaching and marking responsibilities with Prof. Fort over the winter term in 2014. S/he will also be expected to work jointly with him on a practical design project to be presented locally over the winter term. The candidate’s responsibilities will include: being available for the weekly class meeting (4-7pm Wednesdays), jointly prepping class presentations and short class exercises, and assisting with marking both during the term and up to 16 additional hours after classes end.
WORK HOURS AND REMUNERATION: The work will involve 8 hours a week for 14 weeks at $28.04 per hour (plus 7% vacation pay and benefits). The job will begin during the first week of the Winter term (Monday, Jan. 6, 2014) and continue weekly for 14 weeks until April 20, 2014 except for the Reading Week hiatus (February 17- February 23, 2014) when there will be a one week break in employment.
