DRAM 100 TA Application Process

Job Description (some or all of these):
Facilitating a lab group of approx 15 students
Marking assignments
Proctoring tests
Attending TA meetings
This is a paid position - about $1500 a year.
Profile of a TA:
- may be in his/her graduating year as a Drama Major. STSC and medials may be considered
- has a broad range of drama courses (minimum 6.0 credits by the end of 3rd yr)
- usually has a cumulative grade of 80% or higher in drama courses
- the student has excellent communication skills, both in written and spoken forms (please see application procedure)
PLEASE NOTE: These are guidelines for hiring a TA. They are not regulations.
Some other possible considerations:
- What are the student's individual class marks, particularly in DRAM 201*, 202* and 210? What is the student's cumulative mark in all courses at Queen's?
- Does the student have a broad range of experience inside and outside the department in academic and practical areas?
- Has this student demonstrated an exemplary sense of responsibility?
- Is the student planning to go into teaching (at any level) and/or onto graduate school?
Application Procedure:
Please notify Lee Atkinson in the spring of 3rd year (usually during the advising appointment) and submit a hard copy
letter (no more than one page) by April 30, 2012 outlining:
1) What do you have to offer?
2) What do you want to get out of this experience?
3) please include your student number, email, phone numbers and address
A committee of several people (3 or more), including the Head, will choose TAs.
Some interviews may be held.
There will be a list kept of the all applicants and if a space becomes available after the initial
round of hiring then the rest of the applicants will be considered.
