What is the Employee Assistance Program?

The Employee Assistance Program has been available to you since 1990. It is a voluntary, confidential counselling and support service for all employees of Queen's University and their families, as defined by the Queen's benefits programs.

This service has been developed to help you with personal and workplace concerns, tensions and stress before they lead to more serious difficulties. You and your immediate family members can receive support over the telephone, in person and through a variety of issue-based health and wellness resources. For each concern, you are experiencing, you can receive a series of sessions. You can also take advantage of online tools to help you manage personal well-being.

You'll get practical, relevant support, fast and in a way that is most suited to your preferences, learning approach and lifestyle. Caring professionals will help you select a support that works best for you.

The service provider chosen for Queen's University is Shepell·fgi. Shepell·fgi has Full Accreditation status with the Council on Accreditation (COA) under the criteria developed jointly with the Employee Assistance Society of North America, ensuring the highest quality of clinical standards and practices. Another important aspect of your counselling will be the "fit" between you and your counsellor. When calling the EAP, you can feel comfortable sharing specific preferences you want us to consider when selecting your counsellor, such as gender, age, cultural background or area of specialization. If the "fit" between you and your counsellor does not seem right to you, you may call one of the toll-free numbers at the bottom of the screen, at any time, to request another counsellor.
