Macgillivray, John (1855-1930)

After graduating from the University of Toronto in 1882, John Macgillivray taught at Albert College in Belleville, Ontario for two years.

He then departed for Liepzig University, where he earned a doctorate in French and German.

He was appointed to the teaching staff of Queen's University in 1888 as the first professor of modern languages.

He is buried in the Cataraqui Cemetery.
