Currently Tian is studying at Queen's in Community Health and Epidemiology and working for an NGO called Dream Corps International. It is a social benefit organization initiated in Duke University yet conduct its business in China. It is dedicated to promoting reading among children in rural China by opening resourceful libraries and developing reading programs. They strive to improve the environment for learning and personal development for underprivileged chidren in China and to foster their dreams so that their lives are not held hostage to existent economic, educational, and technological divides. Through close collaboration with local educators and parents, they aim to inspire enthusiasm for learning in rural children. I volunteered at one elementray school last summer in central China and help set up the library and make the library functioning in a sustainable way.
