Djilali Hamza

Djilali Hamza received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from Queen's University, MSc in Electrical Engineering from École Polytechnique de Montreal and BSc in Electrical Engineering from Concordia University, all in Canada. Prior to joining academia, Djilali had extensive industrial experience, including Nortel Networks, Spar Aerospace and Canadian Aviation Electronics. As a design engineer, he was involved in more than 15 industrial projects. He is currently a Senior Engineer and technical manager at the Queen's Centre for Energy and Power Electronics Research (ePOWER). He is a member of the roll of professional engineers of Quebec and Senior Member of IEEE. His current research interests are focused on electromagnetic interference in power electronics, use of integrated filtering methods in high frequency converter applications, low-voltage, high-di/dt point-of-load applications, and alternative energy conversion power electronics.

Ali Khajehoddin was awarded his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Queen's in 2010, and ePOWER researchers were pleased to have him continue his work here as a Senior R&D Engineer. He received BSc and MSc degrees in Electrical Engineering from Isfahan University of Technology, Isfahan, Iran, in 1997 and 2000 respectively. Ali's research specialties include power electronics, control systems, and their applications in renewable energy resources, specifically photovoltaic systems.

Shangzhi Pan received his BSc and MSc in Electrical Engineering from Zhejiang University, China, in 1998 and 2001, respectively, and his PhD from Queen’s University in 2008.  From 2001 to 2003, he worked as a hardware engineer with Alcatel Shanghai Bell Inc. In September 2003, he joined the Energy and Power Electronics Applied Research Laboratory (ePEARL) at Queen’s University. His doctoral research involved investigation of high performance digital control techniques for powering microprocessors. His previous research included battery management, telecommunication power supplies, multi-output power converters, and resonant converters.
In his current position as Senior R&D Engineer, Pan is continuing his research on topologies and digital control techniques of voltage regulators for powering future microprocessors, grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) inverters, and power factor correction techniques.

Marzia Zaman holds Master’s and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from Memorial University of Newfoundland. In her position as Senior Systems Engineer at ePOWER, Marzia is managing technical deliverables for the ORF-RE funded project, Greenhouse Gas Emission Free and Energy Efficient Power Technology, and working closely with Information & Communication Technology (ICT) industrial partners to develop new ideas and requirements for commercialization of project research. Prior to working at Queens University, Marzia worked in various IT and high-tech companies including start-ups. She has over 12 years of experience in developing real-time system solutions for telecom products.

Haibo Zhang

Haibo Zhang received his BSE degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and his MASc degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Concordia University. Haibo has extensive industrial experience, holding positions including: R&D Manager, Power Group, Cistel Technology Inc.; Engineering Manager, Chippower Inc.; Senior Principal Engineer, CHiL Semiconductor Inc.; and Research Group Chief Engineer, Dept. of Electrical Driving and Automation Control, Shanghai Research Institute of Electrical Automation.
