CSECS Host : Dr. Susan Glover, Department of English, Laurentian University
Saturday, October 29th : 10:00am-2 :00pm Location: Four Points Sheraton, Ballroom B
This roundtable considers the complexities of inter-tribal diplomacy in the shadow of settler colonial surveillance, focusing primarily on relations between Indigenous nations rather than on Indigenous resistance to colonial power. Panelists will draw on Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee histories from the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries in the territory surrounding what is now commonly referred to as Kingston, Ontario, to reflect upon the significance of nation-to-nation Indigenous relations moving forward. The panel will include Haudenosaunee scholars Terri-Lynn Brennan and Ryan Baberstock, Anishinaabe scholar Alan Corbiére, and settler scholar Laura Murray.
