This exhibition enacts diasporic encounter in the hopes of the possibilities of assemblage as world-making and contaminated emergence. Featuring an interactive art installation by the students in Media and Performance Production 300 and thought-provoking, affect inducing, and politically imaginative works of the following artists (listed in reverse alphabetical order):

Student Voices Week is a concentrated series of opportunities to engage in conversations about equity and allyship at Queen's and to celebrate the equity-focused work being done by students across campus.

Student Voices Week is hosted by the Queen's Shift Project in the Student Experience Office in collaboration with many university partners and student groups.

Unless otherwise noted, all Student Voices Week events are open to any students looking to be part of the shift towards a safer and more inclusive campus culture for everyone.

The Kingston Branch of the Alumni Association invites you to celebrate the spirit of Queen's University at the 2024 Kingston Branch Awards. This event offers Kingston alumni the opportunity to connect and celebrate Frank Halligan, Artsci'74, Ed’75, with the Padre Laverty Award and Sophie Kiwala with the Jim Bennett Award. 

Join us for a cocktail reception and ceremony at the University Club to toast our recipients with an evening of recognition and connection. Tickets include reception, hors d'oeuvres, and two drink tickets.

The main entrance of the University Club is accessible and features an automatic door opener. The elevator services all levels of the building.

Call forth your passion for life, creativity and vocation. Get ready for final assignments and exams.

Attend entire day (10 am - 4 pm) or 1 hour sessions.

Lunch and refreshments provided.

Certificate of Completion also provided.

Brief Itinerary - Schedule: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Session 1: 10-11 a.m: Talk - Power of awareness; Guided mindfulness - Mindfulness of breath and body and other anchors, mindful movement (qigong)

15 Minute Break

Session 2: 11:15-12:15 p.m: Talk - Path for self discovery; grounding;  mindfulness of the body: why start with breath, body; pain, grief, trauma ; Guided mindfulness - Body, sensations, sounds; mindful movement (qigong)

12:30-1:30 p.m. Lunch break (mindful eating instructions)

Session 3: 1:30-2:30 p.m: Talk - Uncover the true self; mindfulness of thoughts: not about eliminating thoughts, planning is good; Guided mindfulness –  Mindfulness of thoughts and beliefs; start with breath, sounds, emotions, mindful movement (qigong)

15 Minute Break

Session 4: 2:45-3:45 p.m: Talk: Daily attunement to cycles in life/disentangle limiting beliefs; mindfulness on a daily basis - regular practice, being aware of our thoughts and body, self-compassion and compassion for others; Guided mindfulness – Observations; staying balanced; daily basis meditation: beginning with the breath, moving onto the body, thoughts, sounds, emotions; mindful movement (qigong)

15 minute optional ending debrief

A Mindfulness Workshop Series (Introduction to Mindfulness: How to Work with the Brain, Manage Stress, and Increase Focus & Joy) offered across four Tuesday evenings (7:00-8:00pm) beginning in March (March 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th). 

Each of the four week Mindfulness Workshop Series sessions will include:

- 10-20 minute talk

- 15-20 meditation practice/mindful movement

- 10-15 min question and answer period 

Weekly topics:

1. What is mindfulness (introduction, common misconceptions about meditation, benefits; breath, sounds, emotions, thoughts)

2. Working with our emotions (awareness of emotions, self-compassion)

3. Working with our heart (joy, equanimity)

4. Applying mindfulness on a daily basis (breath, heart, body, sounds, emotions, thoughts)

Note: Individuals can attend each of the four sessions as they choose and are not required to attend all four.
