Queen's University

Teaching

The outstanding calibre of Queen's faculty is a key strength of the University. Queen's ranks near the top when it comes to national awards to faculty.

Teaching excellence is recognized every year through a survey of students and a program of internal teaching awards.

The Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL), supports the instructional development activities of individual teachers and academic units; and encourages university policies and practices that promote good teaching.

Liaison librarians work with faculty to provide course-related instructional sessions and programs, and to ensure that the library's collections support the curriculum needs of departments and faculties at Queen's.

State-of-the art classrooms enhance the teaching experience, including:

The new Medical School Building;

Goodes Hall, the $25.5-million home of Queen's School of Business, with the latest expansion in 2012;

Chernoff Hall, the University's award winning Chemistry building; and

Beamish-Munro Hall, the Faculty of Applied Science's innovative Integrated Learning Centre.

The Glaxo Wellcome Clinical Education Centre gives students in Nursing, Medicine and Rehabilitation Therapy students in the Faculty of Health Science the opportunity to work with volunteer patients from first year onwards.
