Aboriginal Advisor

Vanessa McCourt

Tekwanonwera:tons (Welcome) to Queen's University! My name is Vanessa McCourt, and I am your Aboriginal Advisor. I am Kaienkehaka (Mohawk) from Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory. I am a wife, mother, auntie, student, sister, daughter, granddaughter and helper.

I graduated from Queen's in 2002 with a medial in Sociology and Health Studies. I recently completed my Masters of Education in Social Justice in Education at OISE, UofT.

My role is to support you with any questions or concerns that may arise while at university. I provide personal support, liaise with other departments and faculties, and organize our cultural and social programming events at Four Directions.

I feel it is important to create a supportive environment for our diverse First Nations/Inuit/Metis/Status/Non-Status/Two Spirited/On- Reserve/Urban/ Mixed Ancestry students on campus.

For fun, I enjoy playing beach volleyball, playing with my two adorable kids or lounging outside with a good book.

I look forward to meeting you!
