Every year, Queen's University Four Directions Aboriginal Student Centre organizes an Aboriginal Symposium on Indigenous research. This year’s topic is 'Respecting Mother Earth: Indigenous Perspectives on Environmental Justice'
Indigenous Research promotes friendship and familiarity among participants, and facilitates the expansion of understanding, creating a welcoming environment for the growing community of Aboriginal scholars.
The symposium is on November 2nd and 3rd, 2012. It is conducted in a fashion expressing respect for traditional Aboriginal protocol. Aboriginal community members and Elders will be in attendance as participants and stakeholders, and presentations will be in the form of a talking circle. The sessions are moderated with the use of a talking stick and given guidance by Aboriginal Elders.
Registration Fees:
Faculty: $50
Students & Community Members: $20
Presenters: No Charge
Registration fees will provide guests with Friday Dinner as well as Saturday Breakfast, Lunch, snacks, & refreshments during the Symposium.
Keynote speaker and presenters will be finalized in a brochure and posted Wednesday or Thursday.
