Responsibilities
The University is a member of CURIE (Canadian Universities Reciprocal Insurance Exchange), which provides self-insurance for third-party liability, claims for property damage, and claims based on errors and omissions.
The University also has a number of separate policies that provide additional coverage, such as:
- insurance for fleet and rental vehicles
- property in transit
- the university's mainframe computer system
The manager of the department is the main contact for insurance matters, including questions on:
- coverage (including the university's self-insurance program for property losses),
- claims handling
- all aspects of risk management
