The Office of the Controller Undergoes Structural Changes

The Office of the Controller, Financial Services is changing its structure and the way it supports the community. Over the last few months the Office of the Controller, Financial Services has completed an organizational design review.  This process was achieved through consultation with the Financial Services staff and representatives from the community, discussions and benchmarking with other Ontario universities, and support from the Organizational Development and Learning Unit in Human Resources.

In response to the feedback we have had through this process from members of the community, we are working towards:

  • Moving back to more direct contact with Financial Services staff
  • Publishing a list of who does what on our website
  • Providing a more dedicated resource for orientation and training with a view to continuing to assist members of the community to become more proficient with Peoplesoft.

We are reorganizing our work to enable us to change the way we support the community, to continue to be successful in meeting our regulatory reporting deadlines, and to provide additional focus on leadership and internal control within the department.  Balancing the competing demands of our core activities is often challenging and we will continue to strive to strike an effective balance within the overall context of the University.

It will take us some time to fully implement all of these changes.  We invite you to visit the Financial Services website where you will find our new organization structure.  We will continue to refine this information over the next few months to provide additional information on who to call for what.

Kindest Regards,

Queen's Financial Services
