Everything You Wanted to Know About Acrylics, But Were Afraid to Ask

A course structured to give an introduction to a variety of techniques and infinite possibilities for artistic expression when painting with acrylic colours and mediums. Each week a new medium, technique and possible applications will be introduced. An opportunity to challenge your use of art materials and creative self.


Prerequisite: Beginners or Experienced.

  • N.B. The course will be taught in English.
  • Materials list:

Required substrates and other materials to be discussed in first class.

For first class students are to have the following materials: Watercolour Paper- full sheet 140 lbs;  Assorted brushes (.1/2-2 inch) that are suitable for Acrylic Paint; Tri-Art Non-Stick Palette (or similar); Palette Knives; Paper Towels/Rags; Water Containers;Sketchbook + pencil, white & kneadable eraser sharpener; Charcoal pencil 6B; Compressed charcoal stick (optional: soft pastels, watersoluable

graphite, litho crayons)

The French Lessons series of courses is designed to accommodate French students of all levels and backgrounds. In the Introductory class, we will learn to conjugate basic French verbs in the past, present, and future tenses; we will also study basic vocabulary and sentence structure, and learn useful French expressions and cultural history. Through fun, stress-free, and educational grammar lessons, classroom activities, and regular homework assignments, students in this class will develop a strong base knowledge of the French language that will be a solid starting point for any further French studies. With a strong encouragement of student participation and classroom discussion, this course is designed to offer a positive and encouraging learning environment where students can improve their knowledge and application of the French language, and make new French-speaking friends in the process.

Through challenging, engaging, and educational grammar lessons, classroom activities, and regular homework assignments, students in this class will strengthen their knowledge of the French language and culture. With a strong encouragement of student participation and classroom discussion, this course is designed to be a positive and encouraging learning environment where students can improve their knowledge and application of the French language, and make new French-speaking friends in the process.

French Conversation in the Workplace

The French in the Workplace series of courses is designed to educate students in a work-related use of the French language. In the introductory class, we will review and improve basic French grammar, and sentence structure, as well as practice new, relevant vocabulary and colloquial expressions. Through fun, stress-free, interactive, and educational grammar lessons, classroom activities, and regular homework assignments, students will practice their existing knowledge of the French language and work to become effective communicators in both social and professional work situations; the situations that we will prepare for include, but are not limited to, answering telephone calls, directing requests to appropriate personnel, greeting colleagues, meeting new business associates, making oral presentations, and writing inter-office communications such as emails and memos. This course is designed to meet the needs of students from a variety of professional backgrounds and is easily adaptable to suit the needs of any group.

The French for Travelers course is designed to equip students, professionals, and any other globe-trotters with a functional command of the French language for an up coming period of stay in a French-speaking region. In this course, we will review basic French grammar and sentence structure, as well as learn new relevant vocabulary, colloquial expressions, and emergency communication essentials. Through enjoyable, original, and informative grammar lessons, classroom activities, and regular homework assignments, students will practice and work to improve their existing knowledge of French, as well as learn about cultural heritage and important cultural differences; the situations that we will prepare for include, but are not limited to, asking for directions, ordering food, asking for help, making new friends, and buying merchandise. This course is designed to meet the needs of travelers from a variety of academic backgrounds, and is easily adaptable to suit the needs of any group bound for any region.

This Intermediate/Advanced course is designed for those looking for a friendly place to eat lunch once a week. Bring your lunch, meet and greet other community members and take part in casual lunch-time conversations in French. An experienced instructor will provide vocabulary and grammatical assistance where necessary, and moral support.
