Award to recognize champions of workplace equity

Queen’s Council on Employment Equity (CEE) has established a new award that will honour those who go above and beyond the legislated requirements in an effort to enhance workplace equity.

“In acknowledgment of the spirit of employment equity, Queen’s would like to formally appreciate exemplary efforts and progress as demonstrated by those who create a positive impact on the university community,” says Gordon Smith, Chair, CEE. “The Employment Equity Award is a means by which we can recognize and celebrate those efforts.”

The Queen’s Employment Equity Award will honour the achievements of individuals, groups or organizations that, through their ongoing diligence and commitment, are helping Queen’s become a truly representative and inclusive workplace. Students, faculty, staff and community members are eligible for the award, and the winner will be announced in December.

Nomination forms can be downloaded from the Equity Office website. The deadline for nominations is November 1.

The CEE was established in 1987, and assists the university in advancing equity through employment.

The CEE’s activities include monitoring and reporting on the university’s compliance with the Federal Contractors Program, ensuring that appropriate analysis is carried out on existing and proposed policies with employment equity implications, and making recommendations to the principal and vice principals on changes to policies, procedures, and practices that will have a positive impact on employment equity.
