Available Expert - President Trump outlines objectives of trade talks

Tuesday, July 18, 2017

Queen’s University trade expert Robert Wolfe is available to comment on what the United States wants from the North American Free Trade Agreement talks. Monday, United States Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer released a broad summary of objectives that will be the focus of the Trump administration’s trade talks with Mexico and Canada for the renegotiation of the North American free-trade agreement (NAFTA).

“Many of the objectives in the document are standard United States free trade agreement objectives and would involve tweaks to the Trans-Pacific Partnership,” says Dr. Wolfe. “But parts of it are quite aggressive. How much leverage does the United States really have?”

Please note Dr. Wolfe is only available for phone interviews.
