KINGSTON – Over 200 high school students from across Eastern Ontario will descend on the Isabel Bader Centre for the inaugural Dan School Band Festival. The media are invited to attend this intensive one-day festival that includes concerts, clinics and workshops.
Participants in the inaugural festival will have the opportunity to work with faculty members and students at the Dan School of Drama and Music. The festival culminates with a public concert that will feature each of the school bands along with the Tri-Colour Massed Band.
The participating schools include Canterbury High School (Ottawa), Napanee District Secondary School (Napanee), O’Neill Collegiate and Vocational Institute (Oshawa), Regiopolis-Notre Dame Catholic High School (Kingston), and St. Michael Catholic High School (Kemptville).
Queen’s alumni lead each of the participating high school bands.
Tuesday, April 18. The workshop takes place during the day. The concert is being held at 7:30 pm.
The media are invited to an interview opportunity with festival co-organizer Julia Brook (Dan School of Drama and Music). Journalists are asked to meet in the lobby at 11:30 am.
