A newly formed action team will help Queen’s analyze and respond to its results on the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE). The group’s work will enable more effective planning in support of the university’s efforts to enrich the student learning experience.

The action team includes representatives from the university and the Alma Mater Society, and its mandate formalizes work already being done to act on NSSE results.

“NSSE is the university’s key measure of student engagement at the undergraduate level, and it plays an important role in helping to determine what Queen’s is doing well and where improvement is possible,” says Ann Tierney, Vice-Provost and Dean of Student Affairs, who is a member of the action team. “Overall, Queen’s performs very well in NSSE and the action team’s work will help inform ways we can further enhance the student learning experience, which is a key driver of the university’s strategic framework.”

The NSSE survey measures students’ levels of engagement both inside and outside of the classroom, including interaction with professors and classmates, and the amount of time students spend in various sorts of learning activities.

More information about the action team is available on the Provost’s website.
