Fire alarm panel replacement at Stauffer Library

Crews from Siemens Building Technologies are scheduled to replace the fire alarm panel in Stauffer Library on Wednesday, Feb. 22 between 8 am and 5 pm.

Physical Plant Services will turn off automatic door openers at rotunda entrance 184D where annunciator panel is located – see attached graphic for exact location. The crews from Siemens will temporarily close this accessible entrance, cordoning off the area and posting signs to advise that work will be in progress in this area between 8:15 am and 3:30 pm (approximate timing).

A fire watch will be in effect until the new fire alarm panel is tested and verified as fully operational. If a fire should occur during the fire watch period, air horns will be sounded repeatedly to alert building occupants of a fire and to signal that they should begin an evacuation.

At approximately 2:30 pm, the crews will begin to perform audible testing of the new fire alarm panel. The alarm will need to be sounded briefly and intermittently over the course of the testing period (30 – 60 minutes). Once the new panel is verified as fully operational, the fire watch will end.

Any questions regarding this planned work should be directed to Fixit by phone at ext. 77301 or by email.
