Overnight steam shutdown scheduled for a number of buildings Nov. 9-10

A steam shutdown is scheduled for the buildings listed below from Thursday, Nov. 9 at 7 pm until Friday, Nov. 10 at 5 am to permit Kelson Mechanical, working on behalf of Ellis Don, to cut and cap the old steam line feed to the Queen’s Innovation and Wellness Centre. Affected buildings include:

  • Beamish-Munro Hall
  • Dupuis Hall
  • Goodwin Hall
  • John Deutsch University Centre
  • Queen’s Centre
  • School of Kinesiology and Health Studies

During the shutdown period, there will be no new steam production for domestic hot water tanks, heating systems, commercial kitchens and steam-reliant equipment within the affected buildings. The reserves in the domestic hot water tanks for these buildings are expected to sustain demand for hand washing and showers while work is in progress and the domestic cold water supply will be maintained at all times.
