Steam shutdown scheduled Thursday night for Queen's Centre

A steam shutdown is scheduled for the Queen’s Centre on Thursday, May 4 beginning at 7 pm to permit Physical Plant Services to repair a leak on the high pressure line in mechanical room LL2 B280A. Actual repair work will begin later in the evening once the steam line has cooled and will continue through the night until the repair is completed. The plan is to have the repair completed, and the steam back online, before 7 am on Friday, May 5.

During the shutdown period, there will be no steam available for the production of domestic hot water, heating of the pool water,  heat for the commercial dryers, or building heat. The building has a large reserve of domestic hot water which is expected to more than meet the demand during the shutdown. The pool is not in use this week due to ongoing maintenance.  Residual heat is expected to meet the building heat demand while this repair work is completed.

Questions about this shutdown should be directed to Fixit by phone at ext. 77301 or by email.
