The Ban Righ Centre held its first annual Winter Bazaar on Friday, Dec. 2, bringing together a number of student families as well as staff and supporters.

Donations were collected from Ban Righ Foundation board members and friends, helping fill the centre’s gift tables with attractive, useful and entertaining items. Children were able to purchase gifts for 25 cents and had a great time selecting and wrapping their parcels for family members.

The Ban Righ Centre has a few remaining donated gift items available for student families, and the Society of Graduate and Professional Students (SGPS) will be collecting food items to share before the holidays. For any student families who would like some extra assistance, contact dir.memberrelations@sgps.ca  or banrighcentre@queensu.ca. The Ban Righ Centre will be closed Dec. 20-Jan. 2 inclusive.

The Ban Righ Centre is a unique on-campus resource centre – the only one of its kind in Canada – that provides mature women students with advice and financial assistance, a lunch program with speakers and female faculty mentors, and quiet spaces to study. Founded in 1974, the Ban Righ Foundation (the centre’s volunteer board of directors) is made up of Queen’s University alumnae, students, staff, faculty and community members.
