The Queen’s campaign for the United Way kicks off Friday, Oct. 3 with a barbeque lunch at the corner of Union Street and University Avenue, from 11 am to 4 pm.

The United Way Campaign at Queen's has set an ambitious goal to raise $370,000 from students, staff, faculty and retirees. It is the largest workplace effort for the local United Way.

New this year is Queen’s participation in an e-pledge system. Staff and faculty with a Queen’s email account will be invited to register and make their pledge using this paperless system. Watch for an email from the Queen’s United Way volunteer committee about how to sign up. Retirees and some staff will continue receiving paper pledge requests.

The United Way of Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington funds agencies who help 74,000 people locally each year, or one in three residents.

Community services through United Way help people from all walks of life, from a soldier with PTSD or a child needing a nutritious breakfast to someone who needs temporary shelter or has a permanent disability such sight or hearing loss.
