An upgrade to PeopleSoft Finance planned for later this week will result in some added features while still being familiar to system users.

“The technical upgrade ensures we have a system that’s up-to-date with current technology and positions us to take advantage of new features and functionality now and in the future,” says Caroline Davis, Vice-Principal (Finance and Administration).

While PeopleSoft Finance will have a new look and feel following the upgrade, there will be relatively few business process changes. New features include functionality that will allow users to:

  • Access WorkCenters, central areas within PeopleSoft that make it easier for users to visit commonly used pages and information needed to perform certain tasks without having to navigate between different menus;
  • Consult additional help features within individual pages; and
  • Add supporting documentation to journal entries using attachment functionality.

Comprehensive training material has been prepared and is available through Moodle at moodle.queensu.ca. For instructions on accessing training, see the PeopleSoft 9.2 upgrade community wiki site. The wiki site also provides background on the project and answers to several commonly asked questions. There is also a “What’s New?” page on the wiki site that includes screenshots of PeopleSoft pages before and after the upgrade so that users can see the differences.

During the upgrade, PeopleSoft Finance will be unavailable Friday, Oct. 17 beginning at noon until Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 7 am. If you have any questions, please email psupgrade9.2@queensu.ca

Upgrades to the other PeopleSoft applications – Human Resources and Campus Solutions (Student) – are tentatively scheduled to take place in 2015.
