On Wednesday, November 13, 2019, Dr. Jean Hutchinson delivered the Glossop Lecture, and received the Glossop Medal at the Royal Institution of Great Britain, in London, England.

The Glossop Lecture is the most prestigious lecture given to the Engineering Group of the Geological Society. Recipients of this honor are considered technical experts in their field of Engineering Geology, are actively engaged with the Engineering Geology community, and have made a significant contribution to advancing the cause and science of Engineering Geology.

Dr, Hutchinson is only the third woman, and the second Canadian to deliver the Glossop Lecture. The presentation was titled, "Building slope process models considering engineering geology: Extending our understanding, interpretation and communication of instability using remotely sensed data".

The Ground Engineering website featured a fantastic article on Dr. Hutchinson and this award, as did the Queen's Faculty of Arts and Science. The lecture is available on the Engineering Group of the Geological Society's YouTube page

A heartfelt congratulations on this incredible and well-deserved honour!
