Graduate Course Information

While many of the courses listed in the School of Graduate Studies Calendar are normally offered each year, the remainder are only offered as required, depending partly on student enrolment. Note that in addition to the standard one-term (half) courses, we also now offer shorter "modules". Two completed modules constitute one standard half course credit.

See the Graduate Calendar for Geological Sciences & Geological Engineering for full listing of all courses & descriptions.

Draft - Subject to Change (Updated:  September 14, 2012)

  * Students should meet with the Gradaute Program Assistant (J. Hogan) if they wish to register for the new "Exploration and Environmental Geochemistry" course offering.

NOTE: Most of the graduate courses are offered every 2nd year, which should be considered when planning a graduate program. On Demand (OD) courses will only be offered when there is sufficient student demand expressed (4 or more students). Graduate courses which will not be offered on the normal schedule, due to faculty member's leaves (SL and PL), are noted.

Primary courses: Up to 50% can be taken outside GEOL.
Primary courses: Up to 25% can be 4th year and/or graduate courses which are co-taught and co-numbered with 4th year courses.
Secondary courses: may also be specified by the supervisor to expose graduate students to a wider range of subjects.
