Grad Student Finalist for Christopher Knapper Award

Congratulations to Geology graduate student, Jennifer Bentz who has been selected as a finalist for the university wide teaching assistant award, the "Christopher Knapper Award for Excellence in Teaching Assistance". She has been nominated for her teaching in GEOL/E 232, Mineralogy.

The Christopher Knapper Award is presented annually by the Alma Mater Society of Queen's University to teaching assistants who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the education of students of Queen's University which allows students to recognize outstanding teaching assistants.

The award presentation will take place Friday, March 11, 2016 at the Agnes Etherington Centre.

Visiting Speaker - Dr. John Waldron

On Tuesday, February 16th Dr. John W, F, Waldron, Department of Earth & Atmospheric Sciences, University of Alberta,, will be giving a talk in the Department of Geological Sciences and Geological Engineering.

Dr. Waldron will be presenting on “Subduction initiation in the Appalachian-Caledonide system: Implications for the Wilson Cycle

MSc and PhD Theses Award Winners - CSPG

Congratulations to alumni Colleen Kurcinka, MSc '14, and Duncan MacKay, PhD '14 on receiving best theses awards from the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists (CSPG). Each year the CSPG gives awards to the best MSc and PhD theses in fields relevant to the petroleum industry. This marks the first time that one university (and one supervisor) has had students win both awards. Both were supervised by Dr. Robert Dalrymple.
