Student Receives Outstanding Student Paper Award

Congratulations to Renaud Soucy La Roche who was awarded an Outstanding Student Paper Award (OSPA) at the 2015 AGU Joint Assembly in Montreal. The Joint Assembly took place May 3-7, 2015.

Renaud was the sole recipient of an award for Tectonophysics, with a total of 11 OSPAs being award awarded from AGU. Only the top 3-5% of student presenters are awarded an OSPA for each section.

The 7.8 magnitude Nepal earthquake on 25th April 2015 resulted in more than 7,800 casualties and injured thousands more. Two weeks later, a 7.3 magnitude earthquake shook the region again. Tens of thousands of houses have been demolished and assistance is immediately needed for 400,000 families. Kathmandu Earthquake - Students Safe

Two Queen's Geology students conducting research in Kathmandu during the earthquake on Saturday, April 25th are safe and will be returning to Canada Apr. 29.
