Dr. Hutchinson Receives T. Geoffrey Flynn Advancement Champion Award

Congratulations to Dr. Jean Hutchinson on receiving the T. Geoffrey Flynn Advancement Champion Award from Queen's University, Office of Advancement, in recognition of work with alumni and on advancement during the time of her Headship. This award, established in May 2003, honours T. Geoffrey Flynn, Professor Emeritus of Biomedical & Molecular Sciences and friend of the Office of Advancement. Through his work in strengthening the essential link between academic priorities and those who seek to support them through philanthropy, he has been a champion of advancement work at Queen's.

Grad Student Receives Two Prestigious SEG Scholarships

Congratulations to PhD graduate student, Callum Walter, on receiving two prestigious awards from the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG).

Grad Student Receives TAC Scholarship Award

Congratulations to graduate student, Timothy Packulak, BSc'14, on receiving the Dan Eisenstein Memorial Scholarship from the Tunnelling Association of Canada (TAC). The Dan Eisenstein Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a post-graduate student planning to undertake or currently undertaking post-graduate studies in the field of tunnelling at a recognized university in Canada. The scholarship amount is $6,000.

Recent Grad Wins Best AfriRock 2017 Paper by a Young Author

Congratulations to recent graduate, Dr. Ehsan Ghazvinian MSc'10, PhD'15, on being awarded the Best AfriRock 2017 Paper by a Young Author award, from the South African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (SAIMM). Dr. Ghazvinian won the award for his paper titled, "Progress of Brittle Micro-fracturing in Crystalline Rocks Under Cyclic Loading Conditions".

The award was presented at the International Society of Rock Mechanics (ISRM) International Symposium, AFRIROCK 2017, which took place September 30 - October 6, 2017 in Cape Town, South Africa.
