Welcome to Queen's AESRC 2020

The Queen's Department of Geological Sciences and Geological Engineering invites you to Queen's AESRC 2020, the 19th Advances in Earth Science Research Conference. The conference is geared towards graduate earth science students and will take place at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario from Friday, March 27th to Sunday, March 29th.

The theme for the Queen's AESRC 2020 is "Deep Learning". Increased integration of technology within the earth science field has allowed researchers to dive deeper into data, driving further insights, and promoting collaboration between specializations. This conference intends to highlight recent achievements of students who are digging deeper to help learn more about the vast world around us.

The conference program will feature keynote speakers of interest to all delegates, as well as technical and poster sessions to meet the diverse needs of attendees. In addition to the oral and poster presentations, delegates will have the opportunity to discuss their research during networking sessions over coffee breaks. The technical program will be supplemented by an extensive social program including an opening icebreaker reception, sponsored lunches, the student awards ceremony and reception dinner.

For almost 400 years Kingston has been visited by explorers, politicians, and academics. Rich with history, rife with culture, and sprawling with natural beauty, Kingston is a city of exaggerated proportions - our nation's first capital. While exploring the city you'll find the true spirit of this land, you’ll stumble upon everything from wildlife, to people, to amazing vistas, to an abundance of culture.

With a population of over 130,000, the metropolitan Kingston area is an economic and cultural center of the province and offers a natural environment, clean air, safe streets and all the amenities of a larger city with a European flavour. Our rich history, culture, and “small town” quality of life make Kingston a pleasure to visit.
