Student GSA grants in the QTRL group
Congratulations to Renaud Soucy La Roche, Lindsay Waffle, and Rohanna Gibson on receiving GSA (Geological Society of America) Research Grants, of $1,500 each. The awards are in support of their graduate research in the Himalaya.
Rohanna Gibson was also awarded an additional $2,000 by the Mineralogy, Geochemistry, Petrology and Volcanology Group of the GSA.
The students' research will contribute to their individual thesis topics, as follows:
Rohanna Gibson: Along-strike variation of strain and the timing of deformation in the lower Himalayan metamorphic core, west-central Nepal
Renaud Soucy La Roche: Emplacement processes of Himalayan external crystalline nappes, western Nepal
Lindsay Waffle: Effects of basement highs on orogen-parallel strain partitioning: A case study of the Faizabad ridge in Northern India using centrifuge analogue modelling
