"In order to practice geoscience in Canada at a professional level, practitioners are required by law to register with, and be licensed by, the regulator of the profession in the province or territory in which they practice.
Geoscientists Canada is not a licensing body and it does not itself register or license practitioners. Geoscience practitioners should refer directly to the regulator in the jurisdiction in which they intend to practice to obtain information on registration and licensure.
The requirements for initial registration as a professional geoscientists are generally the same in each jurisdiction in Canada. However there are local differences and processes for application vary. It is important to check with the particular jurisdiction for specific information on its requirement for initial registration."
