Film in the New Europe

In this course, European film is our starting point for investigating the connections between work and art. Topics may include: urban space; (post- and para-); socialist societies; border crossings, especially gendered labour and cultural flows. The new Europe and its film shape each other; in what ways does this matter? Delimiting and unsettling national borders, they also shape and are shaped by the global; why should we care?

Our lab sections are primarily film screenings. Our seminar sections are lecture and discussion based.

Marking Scheme(may vary year-to-year):

Participation: 15%

Presentation based on paper: 10%

Analytic paper: 40% 

Test 1: 15%

Test 2: 20%
