Currently held by distinguished researcher Dr. Art McDonald, and created through the generosity of Gordon and Patricia Gray, this Chair supports the work being done in the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory.
Since its inception in 1990, the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory (SNO) - shielded from radioactive interference by two kilometers of rock - has attained unparalleled accuracy in the study of neutrinos, the smallest known particles in existence.
