The Faculties and Schools of Queen's strive to meet the unique needs of their students by selecting annual priorities that further enhance the learning experiences of the student body. Some longstanding priorities include:
Applied Science Dean's Excellence Fund
In an Integrated Learning environment, the fund recognizes that students can be active participants in their own education through design teams and competitions, conferences, speakers and engineering student groups.
Arts and Science Dean's Student Resource Fund
It is the diversity of the faculty that is its strongest asset and best opportunity for learning, and the Dean's Student Resource Fund preserves and enhances that experience by providing students with the resources and opportunities they need to thrive in a dynamic learning environment where artists rub shoulders with biologists and historians study alongside chemists.
School of Business 21st Century Fund
Business students quickly learn that the world is their classroom and this fund seeks to deliver it. Whether it's participation in student competitions and conferences, or through enabling other student initiatives - such as community work, guest lecturers or mentors - the 21st Century Fund provides the School with the flexible resources necessary to capitalize on opportunities.
Grad Studies Dean's Awards
Grad students use the fund to offset the costs of doing research in the field. Whether it's studying ice in Northern Canada or ancient manuscripts in the British Isles, the fund helps cover their travel and related costs, while contributing to the knowledge base in their fields of study.
Law Alumni Fund
Queen's Faculty of Law has a bold plan to reconstruct our dated basement classrooms, bringing in natural light and constructing state-of-the-art learning spaces. Your gift will help us leverage matching federal funds to make this project a reality.
Teaching Excellence Fund and The Annual Thesis in Education Prize
Engaging students with current teaching professionals and elementary and high school students is a long standing tradition. With the introduction of technology to classrooms at all levels, teachers face new challenges and opportunities - and Queen's Faculty of Education is charged with educating the teachers of the future in this new style of teaching.
Medical School Excellence Fund
Medical School Excellence means world class faculty, leading educational technology, realistic simulation training, research opportunities, clinical and communication skills and informatics, opportunities for student led initiatives and much more.
Nursing Initiatives Fund
This student-focused fund ensures that Nursing students will be well prepared for the responsibilities ahead of them upon graduation. The Nursing Initiatives Fund supports visiting lecturers, participation in professional conferences, and the necessary resources to enhance and expand the learning environment.
Student Resource Fund
The school aims to become a leader in health enhancement, disease prevention and human performance, and to that end, requires the resources to provide students with library acquisitions, technology needs and encourage student initiatives to enhance the learning environment.
The Student Initiative Fund Policy Studies
A broad-based fund that encourages and supports student initiatives that will enhance the learning environment - including participation in conferences, visiting scholars and site visits - the fund directs gifts to MIR, SIR and MPA initiatives based on the graduate school of the alumni donor.
MIR Alumni Fellowship Fund
The MIR Alumni Fellowship Fund allows us to reach higher by providing much needed financial support to new MIR students. This not only makes a world of difference to the student, but also enhances our competitive advantage in recruiting the most qualified candidates to the Queen's MIR program.
Rehab Therapy Student Experience Fund
Field placements are an integral part of the learning environment for OT and PT students, but they can be expensive. The Student Experience Fund assists students in need with the expenses they while completing placements away from the Kingston area.
