Students Being in Gender Studies at Queen's is a bit like being apart of a secret society. When we see each other in halls, we nod and smile. We know each other, maybe because we've seen each other in classes, or doing volunteer and activist work on and off campus. Maybe we shared a story over tea in the department office. As you work your way through the GNDS curriculum, you begin to feel powerful. You know things that other people don't, and your life at Queen's is slightly different from your friends in other departments. Within the Gender Studies Department, you will find every kind of experience; there is no general rule of what makes a Gender Studies student. One thing we all seem to have in common though, is a life outside our classrooms. Whether we choose to work within the structures of the university, or outside of it in the community, we all have a passion to understand our world and change it. The Department Student Council plays an important role in Gender Studies. Elected by students at the beginning of the fall term, the DSC's role is to represent GNDS students' interests in Departmental meetings, and on committees such as curriculum and appointments. Most importantly DSC members, organize events for GNDS students over the academic year. These events have included, Drinks with Professors at the Grad Club, Annual Grad Breakfast, Careers Day, etc. If you have ideas for the upcoming academic year please contact your DSC. This year's DSC Executive:
News Autumn Fling event was held Tuesday October 26th, 2010 at the Grad Club.
